At the November 2021 Regular Municipal Election, residents of the Town of Telluride passed Telluride Question 2D imposing a suspension on the issuance of new Short-Term Rental (STR) business licenses and capping the number of STR licenses to approximately 750 for a two-year period until November 2023. The cap was based on the existing number of licenses held in August, 2021.

Prior to the expiration of the current suspension on the issuance of new STR licenses, the Town wishes to collaborate with the community and key stakeholders to craft updated STR policies. To that end, through the Town Manager’s Department the Town of Telluride is soliciting bids from qualified firms to conduct a comprehensive STR program evaluation and a study supporting a reasonable fee program to be applied to short-term accommodation unit licenses to mitigate any potential impacts of STRs.
