Winter Warfare Detachment (WWD) the charted 10th SFG(A) proponent for Cold Weather Training and Education. Located at Fort Carson, CO in 10th SFG(A) Advanced Skills Company conducts the Basic Winter Operators Course (BWOC), Intermediate Winter Operators Course (IWOC) and Snowmobile Instructors Course once a year. These courses are preceded and followed with instructor train ups to prepare instructor team members, to validate required skills and routes, and to ensure WWD is holistically prepared for high-risk training and contingencies. WWD Training and Guidance is dictated from 1st Special Forces Command and establishes Winter standards for the SOCOM enterprise. The 10th SFG(A) winter courses is over 25yrs aged and on the cutting edge for producing SOF Cold Weather Operators operating in multiple domains and various regions of the globe. This training and product is an extension of WWD whose mission readiness prepares the USSOFs cohort for contingency operations. This service seeks to alleviate the nuanced skills associated with sustained military winter operations and readiness. Additionally, to develop environments, SM, and partner forces with a lethal and resilient option while ensuring best practices are executed across the enterprise through training and education.
