  • Summary Denver is soliciting proposals for hands-on training for the existing workforce and/or new entrants in heat pump technology. The city anticipates awarding up to $1,000,000 dollars over three years.
Purpose

Denver's Office of Climate Action, Sustainability and Resiliency (CASR) is requesting proposals from qualified organizations to develop Denver's green workforce strategy. This Request for Proposal (RFP) aims to fund Denver Metro training programs. These programs will train Denver's heating and cooling workforce in heat pump technologies. Heat pump technology is key to electrifying Denver's buildings and homes.

This RFP is is funded by the Climate Protection Fund, a special revenue fund approved by 64% of voters to support climate action.

Goals

This RFP aims to

  • Provide hands-on workforce development opportunities.
  • Meet Denver's demand for building electrification.

To achieve Denver's building and home decarbonization goals, the percentage of regional workforce trained in installing heat pumps must increase by at least 23% annually through 2035. This is based on current baseline conditions.
